With the main objective of solving unemployment problems among the youths and to serve the need of the people, Regional Pottery Training Centre, Gramodaya Sangh, Bhadrawati, Maharastra and Gram Seva Sangh, Bramhapur Nahabam Bachaspati Leikai, Imphal East would be jointly setting up a ceramic pottery production cum training centre in Manipur.
A memorandum of understanding to this effect has been signed between the Regional Pottery Training Centre, Gramodaya Sangh, Bhadrawati, Maharashtra and Gram Seva Sangh, Bramhapur Nahabam Bachaspati Leikai, Imphal East during a joint meeting held on August 15 this year, advisor of Gram Seva Sangh A Chandrajit Sharma announced during a press conference at Manipur Press, Club here today.
Chandrajit maintained that ceramic industry is one area in which Manipur has great scope for development not only from the viewpoint availability of raw materials but also from view that Manipur is going to become the main connecting market rout� between India and the South Asian countries.
Ceramic production would be one of the most suitable industries that could be taken up in Manipur and it would provide immense scope for income generation not only for the educated unemployed youths, but even the daily wage earner can take up this profession profitably, he said.
Apart from being recognised the traditional pottery and its products of Manipur by the world, the raw materials being found here are also hailed by the industrialists as one of superior quality, he said adding that in such a situation the production level would be increased with, adoption of new technology and.
machineries.
Deliberating on the points which have been agreed in principle in the MoU signed with Gramodaya Sangh, Chandrajit said the project for establishing the production unit would be prepared by Gramodaya Sangh on the basis of the demand of the local people.
Gramodaya Sangh would also be providing full technical guidance and support to the unit to be established along with deputing technical persons on demand, he said.
As for the role of Gram Seva in the proposed ceramic production unit, Chandrajit said Gram Seva Sangh would arrange for the TA/DA and honorarium of the technical persons and the financial arrangement for establishing the unit would also be done through DST, CAPART, KVIC, Banks, etc by the Gram Seva Sangh.
