Imphal, October 10 2008:
The general assembly of the Maram Union in its emergency session held today at Senapati District Headquarters has strongly condemned the NPO for endorsing the demand of Memei Council (Mao Union) and Zeliangrong Union, Senapati Zone regarding the District Council Delimitation Committee dated September 24 without any consultation with the constituent unit/NPO executives.
Demanding an immediate apology and clarification through the local papers, Maram Union has decided to summon a general body meeting on or before October 15 to justify it on the floor of the house, failing which the Maram Union would withdraw support and co-operation to the NPO.
Issuing a statement in this connection, session secretary of General Assembly of Maram Union Michael said that NPO, Memei Council and Zeliangrong Union, Senapati Zone should rationalise that the Maram Union is not an authority to decide on delimitation issue and whatever proposal made to the DCDC by the Maram Union is an exercise of democratic rights and within the confines of the DCDC guidelines.
The Maram Union has also regretted that the president and the secretary of an apex body like NPO have abused their powers at their whims.
