Imphal, October 10 2008:
A central executive meeting of Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) held on October 9 at Tamenglong has decided to ban Baudi founded by K Ningtangpu and its activities in Zeliangrong inhabited areas, publicity and informa tion secretary of the Union Pantijai Newmai informed in a statement today.
The meeting further decided to serve complaint letters to the Departments/authorities concerned against the Baudi activists employees under the Government of Manipur, the statement said, adding that in this connection an action committee has also been constituted to monitor and assess the activities of the Baudi.
On the other hand, Zeliangrong Baudi, Senapati Zone has asserted that it was duly constituted by the Zeliangrong public of Senapati district under the aegis if Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) on March 13 this year.
In a statement, its chairman said that since then Zeliangrong Baudi, Senapati Zone has come a constituent unit of the Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) and there is no Zeliangrong Union, Senapati Zone.
Taking serious note of the allegation of Memei Council and Zeliangrong Union that the Maram Union was instrumental in the process of delimitation of District Council seats/constituencies, the chairman contended that there is a District council Delimitation Committee duly constituted by an order of the Governor of Manipur and it is an independent committee which does not work under the influence or dictate of any individual or politician.
Hence the allegation of Memei Council and Zeliangrong Union is baseless and unfounded, the chairman added.
