A convention of the AIYF, Imphal East District Council was held today at Bal Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School.
After a series of discussion on various issues confronting the State, the convention unanimously resolved to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur at any cost and decided to put pressure on the Government for lifting Armed Forces Special Powers Act and initiate talks with the various underground organisations operating in the State.
The convention also resolved to exert pressure on the Government for lifting the ban imposed on recruitment in view of the prevailing unemployment problem being faced by educated unemployed youths in the State and for extending loan to those educated unemployed youth whose serviceable age have been crossed.
The convention also proposed for exerting pressure on the Government for upgrading Jiribam sub-division into a district for administrative convenience as well as for urging the Government for setting up a Mini Secretariat for Imphal East District by earmarking fund in the budget.
DESAM appeals: Taking note of the problem being created to the students following shifting of the examination centre for Hindi Ratna being conducted every year by Hindi Parishad, Imphal from Jiribam to Imphal, Democratic Students� Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Jiribam Local Council has drawn the attention of the Government into the matter for taking up appropriate measures to resolve the issue at the earliest possible.
