Taking cognisance of the fact that wild animals/birds seized/rescued by local people or organizations are being handed over NGOS which kept the same at the shelter houses run by them without the knowledge of the Chief Wild Life Warden, the office the Chief Wild Life Warden has notified to all concerned to hand over any wild animal seized/rescued to Divisional Forest Officers (Territorial) or Wild Life Wing of the State Forest Department.
In a notification, Chief Wildlife Warden said that wild animals, etc are Government property as per the provision given in section 36 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.As such no person shall, without the permission of the Chief Wildlife Warden or the authorized officer, acquire or keep in his/her possession, custody or control or transfer to any person, whether by way of gift, sale or otherwise or destroyed or damage such Government property, the notification said.
Any persons who violate/contravenes stated rules shall be pronounced as guilty of an offence against the Act and shall on conviction be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with fine which may extend to Rs 25,000 or with both according to the notification.
Closing function: The closing function of the 15-day summer school theatre workshop organized by Panthoibi Natya Mandir would be held tomorrow at the premises of the Mandir at Yumnarh Leikai Imphal.
