Zeliangrong Students Union of Longmai area, Tamenglong district has expressed disappointment over the non- fulfillment of its demand regarding the posting of full-fledged principal for the Tengkongjang Higher Secondary School at Noney.
The student body lamented that although various social organisations of the area had submitted a joint memorandum to the then Education Minister L.Tomba but till date nothing had been materialised.
According to the student body, the memorandum had been submitted on January-20, 2001.The Zeliangrong students body also said that in that memorandum it had been mentioned of few words complaining against the vice-principal of the institution H Shyam Singh for irregularity in discharging his duties.
The student body further stated that indefinite economic blockade was also called along the National Highway-53 in 2001 in the month of April in this regard.
The Zeliangrong students organisation of the area stated that on April-27 that year, an MoU was signed between the State Government and the student body of the area and to which affect, the government in an order bearing No3/22/97-SE (N/S), one KG Langsingpou, a graduate teacher had been conferred as Principal In-Charge of the institution.
With this the student body warned of taking up agitation if their demand is not fulfiled.
The student body also banned all the all sort of using chemicals such as pesticides, bleaching powder, means of electricity (inverter and generators) while fishing in the streams and rivers of Ezei, Iring, Irang, Tupul river etc.
as they have harzardous affects on the people.
The students body then highlighted the pathetic road conditions in the area.
The Khongsang to Tamenglong road has been in the serious conditions with pot-holes and puddles along the road giving immense hardship to the people.
