Investigation is on to ascertain whether CBI officials are involved in the thrashing and subsequent abandonment of one Khuraijam Ibomcha of Moirang Hanuba Leikai in connection with the Lungnila Elizabeth murder case, said Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh at the Assembly today.
Replying to a question raised by Patsoi AC MLA M Nabadwip on the June 27 incident, the CM informed the House that till date no formal report has been filed at police station concerned concerning allegation of a CBI team arresting Ibomcha from his residence and subsequent discovery of the man in an unconscious state the next morning.
Referring to women organisations of Khamnam Leirak, Saadokpam Leikai and Moirang Hanuba accusing CBI officials in the arrest of Ibomcha, the CM, who also holds the Home portfolio, assured the House that the Government would not show any leniency in the matter.
In case CBI officials are found involved in the case, the guilty ones would be booked and responsibility fixed, he added.
Putting up the motion, M Nabadwip claimed that the CBI men arrived at ibomcha�s residence and after conducting soil test and told the inquisitive locals that nothing has been found during the earth scanning.
He also conveyed that Ibomcha is undergoing treatment at RIMS Hospital with serious head injury sustained in the thrashing on June 27 after being allegedly hauled up by a CBI team on the same day and cited doctor report of Ibomcha administered third degree method of interrogation.
Maintaining that Sadokpam area residents are constantly put under duress due to frequent searches conducted by security agencies, the MLA desired the intervention of the Chief Minister in ensuring tranquility in the area.
As part of the day�s proceedings, MLA L Ibomcha asked for the Education Minister�s comment on class suspension of Manipur College of Technology Institute located at Takyel.
In response Francis Ngajokpa conveyed of Manipur University Examination Controller being advised to re-conduct examination to enable the Institute�s students make amend for loss of precious academic schedule.
The Minister cited students� dissatisfaction on questions asked in a particular subject and allotted time to answer them as main factor of the students resorting to office shut-down agitation and added that SP concerned was deputed to unlock the seal and restore normal academic atmosphere.
