Imphal, February 05 2010:
Carrying on the agitation launched under the stewardship of the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) demanding implementation of the re-commendations of the 6th Pay Commission in totality, employees of the State Government locked their offices today.
Meanwhile, spokesman of the SPF Government N Biren has decried the demand of the State Government employees and pensioners for full implementation of the 6th Pay Commission's recommendations as most unfortunate.
In accordance to the resolutions adopted in the meeting held yesterday after the silent protest rally, employees locked their respective offices today.
Because of this protest agitation, some Government offices were totally paralysed causing severe inconveniences to the public.
Employees of Adult Education Department, Social Welfare Department and Imphal West DC Office stayed away from their offices after locking them.
Although there was no locking of offices in the Secretariat, employees did not attend to their works.
As such, administration of the State Government has been severely affected by the JAC's strike.
In line with the decision adopted yesterday, members of the JAC has launched a campaign to persuade State security personnel to join the agitation in the form of non-cooperation movement.
The JAC has also started communicating with employees of essential services in a bid to bring them within the ambit of the ongoing agitation.
Addressing a press meet this afternoon in his office chamber, SPF spokesperson N Biren prevailed upon the employees to check whether the "money in the pocket is compatible with what they are demanding".
Biren said that the SPF Government has taken serious note of the JAC's ongoing ceasework strike.
Following the agitation of the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO, many departments of the State Government have been severely crippled.
