A number of former political heavy-weights are reportedly lobbying with strong intensity for the state unit presidency of All India Trinamool Congress, the Mamata Banerjee-led political organisation which was recently launched in the State.
Number of aspirants for the post of state unit president of the political organisation also known in short as Trinamool Congress or TC, is said to have reached atleast five individuals including former Chief Minister RK Dorendra, former Outer Manipur Constituency MP Kim Gangte, former MLA Laishom Ibomcha, vice president of State unit Janata Dal (United) N Tombi and Dr Chandramani.
According to the political organisation's Mahila Congress co-ordinator Sumatibala Ningthoujam hectic efforts are being made to open a State unit office of the TC at Singjamei area.
she also remarked that owing to strong lobbying by the five president aspirants at their personal level the party is caught in a tricky situation consequently effecting smooth functioning of the relatively new political organisation in the state.
Confiding that she had personally interacted with all the five aspirants, who had also applied formally, Sumatibala said she is scheduled to call on the TC's Lok Sabha MP Dr Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar tonight to place a report on the development/issue.
She, however, expressed that who would be appointed president of the State unit TC would rest on the decision by the party high command.
The coordinator also said national president Mamata banerjee is very keen to bring about positive change in the Manipuri society.
