Big cat on the prowl scares villagers

With report of a pig being dragged away and eaten up by a wild animal believed to be a Tiger on the night of September 10, many of the scared villagers of Khordak Mayai Leikai under Bishnupur district have reportedly fled for safer places.
Informing this to Hueiyen Lanpao, one Haisnam Ibomcha, a villager of Khordak Mayai Leikai, said that a pig which was reared by one Heisnam Nganthoi, s/o H Mahindra of Khordak Mayai Leikai, was found eaten up by a wild animal on the night of September 10.The carcass of the pig which was around 20 kg in weight was found the next morning at a distance of about 20 feet from the pigsty.
The grasses growing in the area where the remains of the pig were found were all messed up showing signs of a big cat catching its prey.
There were also paw marks similar to some big cats like Tiger.
The elderly people of the village believed that the paw marks were that of a Tiger and they recalled instances where wild animals like Tigers entering the village from the nearby jungle and attacking domestic animals around 20 years back, Ibomcha said.
He further informed that with the news spreading throughout the village, around 20 families have left the village for safer places out of fear while the remaining villagers are staying in groups soon after nightfall.
