At least three persons have died of Diarrhoea in Andro Khuman Leikai since the out- break of the epidemic in this week.
With the shadow of the epidemic likely to spread out all over Andro, local MLA S Chandra has drawn the attention of Health Minister L Nandakumar for taking up necessary measures to save the lives of the people.
A team of mediapersons from here had gone to affected area today to assess and take stock of the matter.
Most of the patients are being brought to Andro Primary Health Centre (PHC) where 59 cases of Diarrhoea have been admitted since June 13.Out of these 59 cases, three patients whose conditions were serious have been referred to JN Hospital and RIMS Hospital.
The names of the patients who have been referred from Andro PHC are L Pakpachao w/o L Shamu of Andro Khuman, her daughter Thajamanbi (15) and H Joychandra s/o Hijam Shyamchandra.
Out of them, Pakpachao passed away at RIMS Hospital.
One of her sons identified as Mobi (17) is also said to be suffering from the same disease.
The two other persons have been reportedly claimed in the epidemic are Shamjetsabam Deba (75) and an old woman from Leitanpokpham.
Malarial epidemic at Saikul: With the onset of monsoon, Malarial epidemic has broken out in Saikul area.
Informing this in a statement, secretary of Kuki Inpi Saikul Block Paokhohao Tuboi said that the Saikul PHC being only the only health care centre available to the people is has not been able to meet the demands of the large number of population living in the area.
