Imphal, January 08 2009:
PRESIDENT OF Adimjati Shiksha Ashram (ASA), Rishang Keishing in a press meet at the Manipur Press Club today deeply condemned the kidnapping of secretary ASA, Phungai Suyo by four unidentified persons who claimed themselves as member of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) on December 8, 2008 last and detained till
December 16 last.
Phungai Suyo was demanded a sum of Rs one crore by the persons.
He was release on the payment of Rs 30 lakhs and demanded another Rs 30 lakhs on February 5, 2009 .
Former Chief Minister Rishang Keishing said that ASA scheme was introduced by first national president of India, Dr Rajendra Prasad to facilitate proper education for the children of poor tribal communities in the year 1953.He also said that the concerned ASA is facilitation the residential education to 100 girls and 200 boys while the government had stopped funding ASA since the past four years.
