THE Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak (TRC) Mathenmei Phom (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) has greeted the people of Manipur, specially the Zeliangrong people on the occasion of the Gaan Ngai festival which commences tomorrow and will continue for five days.
It also expressed serious concern over the gross misuse of dress and costume of the Zeliangrong community.
General Secretary of TRC Mathenmei Phom (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland), Khainjai Golmei in a press release stated that every costume has its own place and time of utility purely based on cultural use of the rich indigenous religious heritage of Zeliangrong community.
The press release stated that Pheingao is used in Gaan-Ngai festival by every married man; Langhu Pheisoi is used as dancing costume by every female; Langlong Phei is used by unmarried man; Kourang Phei is used by old aged man and Khamtang Phei is used by old aged woman etc.
All these have proper place ad time of their uses, Khamjai Golmei stated.
