Newly elected Congress MLA of Moirang Assembly Constituency Mairenbam Prithiviraj was felicitated during a reception function today.
The reception function held at Moirang Purit Mandop was attended by Works Minister K Ranjit, Education Minister L Jayantakumar, Agriculture Minister N Loken, MLA Bijoy Koijam, MLA Dr Ratankumar MLA T Mangibabu, MLA Th Lokeshore, former MLA Kerani and functionaries of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee.
Speaking at the occasion, Minister Jayantakumar asserted that the Congress party would never side-step assurances it made during the bye-election campaign.
Saying that plans are afoot to upgrade one school located in Kwakta area to the level of a High School, Jayantakumar conveyed gratitude to the people of Moirang A/C for electing Prithiviraj.
Agriculture Minister N Loken remarked that Moirang is a very significant historical place in Manipur.
He claimed that the incumbent Government led by Okram Ibobi would develop the historic sites of Manipur in a unique and magnificent style.
Saying that the SPF Government would show its commitment towards development of Moirang A/C by deeds in the remaining three years of the 9th Manipur Vidhan Sabha, he appealed to the Moirang A/C electorates to elect INC candidates in the Lok Sabha elections to make Manipur a peaceful and prosperous State by ensuring power to UPA at the Centre and SPF in State.
Works Minister K Ranjit said that various development programmes will be taken up in Moirang A/C in the remaining three years of SPF Government's tenure.
In the first phase, four different roads have been included in the work programme for development, informed Ranjit while conceding that execution of the works would take sometime as the same works should be sanctioned after sending work proposals to the Planning Commission.
Conveying that the Chief Minister has issued instructions to put into action all the promises made by Congress party during the election campaign, Ranjit sought people's vote to INC candidates in the Parliamentary elections.
Newly elected Mairenbam Prithiviraj said that just as his father (late Manindra) did not misuse a single rupee from the MLA Local Area Development Fund, he would not misappropriate any amount.
He pledged that his MLA Local Area Development Fund would be handed over to the people.
"As an MLA of the coalition Government, I would take up various development programmes in the fields of sports, art and culture, tourism etc with full commitment", Prithiviraj pledged.
