Imphal, June 18:
Like in previous years, All India Students' federation (AISF), Manipur State Council, All India Youth Federation (AIYF), Manipur State Council, All Manipur Nupi Marup, Manipur Nupi Marup and All Manipur Young Pioneers' Organisation (AMYPO) jointly observed the 4th June 18 Nishing Numit at Irabot Bhavan here today in commemoration of the mass public protest against �extension of ceasefire without territorial limit�.
All Manipur Nupi Marup president Y Ibeni Devi, AISF State unit president M Rameshwar Meitei, AIYF State unit president Md Shahbuddin, Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup vice president Y Jamini Devi and All Manipur Nupi Marup vice president Th Shakhitombi Devi were presidium members of the function.
Floral tributes were paid to the 18 martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of territorial integrity of Manipur at the occasion besides taking three different resolutions.
The resolutions are to urge to State Government to take care of infrastructural development in the hill areas, to welcome continuation of the peace talks between the Government of India and NSCN (I-M) but to oppose any move to compromise the territorial integrity of Manipur and to exert pressure on the Government for implementation of all the points mentioned in the Common Minimum Programme of both the State and Central Government.
The commemorative function of the June 18 Uprising was also held at Nambol Leiren Girls' Higher Secondary School under the aegis of Nongchup Haram Khorjei Lup (NOHAKHOL) today.
NOHAKHOL president Kunjo Ningombam presided over the function.
Paying of floral tributes to the martyrs and recitation of poems related to June 18 Uprising marked the observance.
Lamjao Apunba meira paibi Lup, Lamjao also joined the June 18 observance by organisinga memorial service to pay homage to the martyrs who made supreme sacrifices for the State at Lamjao Ithai Leikai bazar shed today.
Pradhan of Mayeng Lamjao GP Th Birchand, GP member U Dewan Luwang and Elangbam Ongbi Pramo Singh graced the occasion as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
