Imphal, June 18: Verification of the teachers working in various Government schools under ZEO Churachandpur district has begun from today.

Director of Education (S) Ch Jayanta supervised the verification work which started from 10 am at the office of the ZEO CCpur.

It may be noted here that the proscribed outfit KYKL had exposed the fake appointment racket in Churachandpur district and punished three �masterminds� of the Education Department including the DI/DDO on May 18 last.

Later on two other teachers who were allegedly involved in the racket were pulled up and penalised with bullets on their legs.

Following the exposure, the State Government took up prompt action and suspended not only all the fake appointed teachers named by the outfit but also ZEO Chaurachandpur Boboi Gangte for her alleged involvement in the matter.

Surprisingly, subsequent investigations have also revealed that one fake teacher had been drawing salary from three different schools simultaneously after being appointed on the sly.

The verification work which began today covered the teachers working in the schools of Churachandpur, Singhat and Samulamlan blocks.

After the teachers who were allotted a code number each were photographed and allowed to identify themselves.

An official team comprising of two nominees from Directorate of Education (S), the SDC and the Director crossed examined the appointment orders, service books and other documents related to regularisation, transfer and posting, etc, furnished by the teachers.

The verification will cover over 1200 teachers working in 26 high schools, 45 junior high schools and 52 SV Schools in the district.

Talking to The Sangai Express while taking a respite from his hectic schedule, Director of Education (S) Dr Ch Jayanta informed that verification of the teachers in other hill districts like Ukhrul and Senapati as well as in other valley districts are going on in full swing so that the task may be completed within the set deadline of June 20.When the attention of the Director was drawn to the complaint being raised from some quarters against stalling of pension and salary of the teachers, Dr Jayanta said once the verification is completed a clear picture would emerge as to who are the fake and who are the genuine teachers.

Accordingly, he would prevail upon his higher officials to release the salary and pension of the genuine ones without any further delay.

Dr Jayanta took the opportunity of appealing, through the media, to all the ZEOs and DI/DDOs for carrying out the verification work with sincerity.

As part of the verification drive, Dr Jayanta met all the DI/DDOs of the blocks and representatives of the teachers, during which they urged the Director to appoint an in-charge for the vacant post of ZEO Churachandpur.
