Imphal, August 02:
Although the State Government has resorted to rationing petrol and diesel to the general public in view of the shortage of fuel following the imposition of indefinite economic blockade along the National Highways, most of the oil pumps in the outlying districts are allegedly siphoning off the fuel quota allotted them to black marketeers.
According to a reliable source, just like in the oil pumps of the capital city, 4 KL of petrol each are allotted to the oil pumps of outlying districts like Thoubal and Bishnupur, etc which have comparatively less number of vehicles.
But some of the oil pumps in Thoubal district do not even provide one I KL of petrol and siphoned off the rest to black marketeers who then sell it to the public at the rate of about Rs 55 per litre.
Meanwhile, as per a Government order today, 8 KL of diesel each has been allotted to PCTC, Khuyathong; BB and Co, Sangaiprou; Ibochouba Service Station, Kakwa and BE, North AOC for issuance to the public and Departmental vehicles from August 3 to 5 every day from 5 am to 5 pm.
The quantum of Diesel oil that has been allotted to Emo Filling, Singjamei for distribution among the Departmental vehicles and trucks tomorrow is 4 KL, at Ksh Beikul, Kakwa for distribution to the public on August 4 is 4 KL and at Motor Service, Moirang on August 5 is 5 KL.
