The call for peace and communal harmony was the calling card of all the participants at the Chandel Peace Conference held at the St Joseph's School at Kuraopokpi in Chandel district.
All those who addressed the conference were unanimous in their observation that the call of the hour in Chandel district is peace and communal harmony and every organisation and each individual should strive towards this.

At the end of the conference all those present adopted a number of resolutions to promote peace and social harmony.
The other resolutions adopted at the conference included that today's meet be the first stepping stone for peace in the whole of Manipur, let the message of Jesus Christ rule the hearts and minds of everyone, "we all shall continue to be the peace makers, because the Bible clearly says 'Blessed are the Peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God,"' to forgive and forget all the past ethnic and communal strife and ethnic clashes and live in peace together so as to create a congenial atmosphere in Chandel for the children and generations to come.
Earlier before the resolutions were adopted, guests of honour ADC of Chandel Lunminthang Haokip and Co-ordinator of Martin Institute, Hyderabad, Ramesh Prakashvelu and PP KC George of St Paul's Parish opened the function as functional president.
The conference was sponsored by the Henry Martin Institute, Hyderabad and organised by REACH-M.Representatives of CNPO, NWUM, Kuki Women Human Rights Organisation and other NGOs and civil society organisations presented papers on the theme, "Peace Building Perspectives of Chandel District." Church leaders, village elders and community leaders also attended today's conference.
