Imphal, November 16:
Setting to rest the suspicion and apprehension that the Red Legged Falcon found dead during a trip undertaken by the State Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services at Barak valley might have died a natural death due to bird flu, the Department today said that the bird did not die a natural death but was killed after being shot either by a catapult or an air gun.
However the Department is not resting easy, said a statement issued by its Director today and added that the meat and skin of the dead bird and blood samples collected from domesticated fowls in Tamenglong were carefully packed to be sent to the WHO recognised High Security Animal Disease Laboratory at Bhopal.
Similarly blood samples of domesticated chickens and ducks are being collected from Moreh town and the same will be sent to the said laboratory.
