Being the first person to have been awarded with the degree of PHD from a village comprising around 40 house holds, Dr Yaronsho Ngalung was feted by the villagers of Ringui Ramhon village in Ukhrul district today amid grand feast fed to hundreds of people from the village and its surrounding villages.
The felicitation and thanksgiving programme for Dr Yaronsho Ngalung on being awarded PHD degree from JNU New Delhi and his younger brother Worchipem Ngalung on being appointed as SI of Manipur police, was held in the presence of the concerned MLA Dr Khashim Ruivah as the functional guest of honour at the premises of the village headman Somatai Ngalung's house.
Among others, Hangphui Stone, former Pastor KN Shimray, Dr Anam Zimik of Tongou village and Pastor of Teinem Baptist Church Ringsangyo spoke on the occasion.
While the president of Ringui Ramhon Katamnao Long Tamthing Ngalung gave away the meritorious award to Dr Ngalung, his mother Ng Yangreila presented shawls to MLA Khashim, his wife and others as a token of love during the occasion.
The village authority also took the opportunity of submitting a memorandum to MLA Khashim for road construction from Rakharan BRTF main road to Ringui Ramhon village which is of two kilometres stretch.
The day's programme moderated by Denny Ngalung was marked successful with a vote of thanks on behalf of the family by Ningkhan Stone and a word of prayer by local Pastor Ng Asui, while the grand feast was graced by Tongou village headman Atem A Shimray.
The programme, with the blessing of the village headman and Wungreikui YR, was attended by many Pastors, educationists, social workers of the neighbouring villages, TBCI youth and TBCI prayer cell.
