Imphal, September 03: To protest the killing of Md Sahidur Rahman and Md Shaukat Ali by unidentified gunmen at Umathel on August 23 last, AMSU Lilong Branch, DESAM Lilong Local Council and MSF Lilong Branch have jointly called 12-hour general strike in Lilong area with effect from 6 am to 6 pm tomorrow.

Announcing this in a joint statement, the student bodies appealed to the people to extend their support and not to venture out of their houses during the strike.

Services related to medical, electricity, water supply and those related to religious ceremony would be exempted from the purview of the general strike.

The joint statement further informed that the resignation papers submitted by the office bearers of Lilong units of AMSU, DESAM and MSF have been withdrawn during a meeting held at the office of the DESAM Lilong Council attended by media persons among others today.
