The Manipur Sangeet Natak, Wangling with the collaboration of art and culture department, Manipur is organizing state level Mukna Pana tournament on 2nd January next at the polo ground Wangjing.
The Mukna Pana will be divided into two Panas (teams), namely Nongpok Pana and Nonechup Pana.
Each Pana will be under two Pana lakpa.
N Ibotombi Singh Wangjing will be the Nongpok Pana takpa L Raghumani Singh of Lamding will be Nongchup Pana lakpa.
Each Pana will have 15 players including the jatra.
In this connection, Dr M Nara minister of art and culture, Manipur told media persons that the Mukna is the traditional game of Manipur.
Our forefathers practiced it since the time immemorial.
It should be preserved.
It is one of the popular art forms of the state, the polo, Kang, Yubi lakpi, etc are our indigenous games of Manipur and we should practice them.
