A representative of the Board of Control for Cricket in India arrived here on a two day visit during which feasibility for infrastructure development in promoting cricket would be assessed.
Secretary of Tripura Cricket Association Urindon Ganguly, deputed by the BCCI, along with functionaries of Manipur Cricket Association inspected playfields prior to sharing objective of his visit with media persons at Hotel Imphal this afternoon.
Informing that his visit is in connection with the Indian Board�s cricket development programme in the North East region, Ganguly said during his stay in the State emphasis would be on assessing infrastructural development and organisational component of the State association.
Pointing out that among the NE States only two are affiliated to the Board with Manipur and Sikkim categorised as associate units, he also iterated that BCCI have been extending all possible assistance in State cricketers� participation in zonal/national level competition in under 15/17/19 age group tournaments.
Based on performances in these competitions, participation in Ranji Trophy would be measured, he informed while assuring that the BCCI would be urged to extend all possible assistance in development of cricket in Manipur.
