Despite being held to a 3-3 draw by AAYCA on the last day of the Moirangthem Ibobi Memorial Imphal East Division I Football League tournament 2005, North Eastern Sporting union (NESU), Khurai emerged the champion of the league with a tally of 23 points in the 10 team competition.
Three other matches were also played on the last day of the tournament at YOSC ground, Khabeisoi today.
Nesu took a commanding 2-0 lead less than half an hour of play with Suresh scoring both the goals.
Even though Roshan matched Suresh's feat twice ruffling the NESU net in the 45th and 55th minutes Dinesh regained the champion's lead with a 61st minute strike before Cheitei eventually levelled in the 71st.The draw posed no threat to the Khurai side clinching the league title as closest rival AIM, Khabam finished the competition with 22 points despite better goal average than the champion team.
Earlier today, AIM crushed TYWO, Takhel 13-1 with S Bikramjit scoring five, followed by two each from Dayananda and Ajitkumar while Thomas, Ibungo, Bhupenchandra and Ibungobi contributed one each.
The third match of the hectic schedule today witnessed XI Star SU blank ABA, Kshetrigao 3-0 as YOSC cruised to a 2-0 win over SSC, Sekta in the fourth.
