Imphal, December 21 2008:
THE CHINGJAO Ching, Langam Ching and Langam Ching Village No 46, Thoubal District Manipur has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister today decrying the ongoing process of land acquisition in the area.
The body, in a statement said that the intention of the state government to acquire the areas populated by various villages of Khongjom circle including Langathel, Phundrei, Khongjom, Shibanagar, Sapam, Tekcham, Papal, Langthabal and Chingtham etc.
is to deploy Central Security Forces in the area which they do not want.
They will accept if the lands are to be acquired for keeping any state forces in the areas instead of Central Security Forces stating that there have already two army headquarters, one at Thoubal Tomching and Nother at Kakching Panjao and also many other army posts in the district.
In the memorandum, the body also set deadline to stop the land acquisition process within seven days.
Otherwise they would undergo various kinds of agitation against government move.
