Strongly condemning the State Government for non-extension of service and denial of salary from October month last year, a meeting of the All Manipur Government Higher Secondary Part Time Lecturers' Association held today at Tombisana High School unanimously resolved to refrain from franchise during the up-coming Lok Sabha election and boycott duties during the forthcoming Class X and XI examinations.
A press statement of the Association citing enormous hardships to bear family burden due to non-extension of service meet and release salaries said the decision to agitate was taken to highlight their grievances and not intent on hurting the interest of the student community.
Students appeal: Stating that Tolloi Higher Secondary Academy, Ukhrul district is manned entirely by part-time lecturers the students' union has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister to resolve the impasse between the part-time lecturers' body and the State Government.
Describing the demands of the lecturers' body, including service extension as legitimate and genuine the memorandum referred to the anxiety and uncertainty faced by the students due to boycott call by the lecturers to the Class XII, Class XI promotion and HSLC examinations.
