Suspected activists of the NSCN (K) slashed and abandoned a member of the rival faction at the Assam Rifles firing range located at Chingmeirong West under Lamphel police station yesterday night.
According to police sources, some persons came across the.

The body bore deep cut wound at the throat arid multiple injuries at the head suspected to have been inflicted by a sharp weapon as a blood stained kitchen knife (heijrang) was found near the body.
A piece of paper with the note 'NSCN (IM) member Akiupou Pamei, Tamenglong headquarters killed by NSCN (K) town commander 2nd lieutenant James' was also found from the body.
Family members confirming the identity said that Akiupou (18) of Tamenglong IB Bazar left home some six months to join the NSCN(IM).
Akiupou is reported to have checked in at Bimol Hotel near the Aryan Theatre in Sagolband about three days back.
The hotel is owned by her aunt called Agaliu, informed press sources.
The youth left the hotel for the nearby market informing the hotel management of returning back for meals and staying the night at the same hotel.
