To commemorate sacrifices of 10 brave CRPF men, who laid down their lives fighting Chinese aggression on October 21, 1959 at Hotspring, Ladakh in J&K, the Police Commemoration Day was observed at Group Centre, CRPF, langjing today, said a CRPF release.
Informing that officers, sub-ordinate officers and other ranks attended the function, the release said DIGP Anil Duggal in his speech highlighted significance of the day wherein the 10 CRPF men displaying valour fought against the Chinese aggressors before making the ultimate sacrifices.
While names of the 'martyrs', that included 90 CRPF personnel were read out during the solemn ceremony, those present also laid wreaths at the memorial of the martyrs.
Presentation of arms followed by two minutes of silence in honour of the departed souls were the other highlight of the observance, it added.
