Though the State Government had already announced its decision of conducting the election of the Autonomous District Councils within the current year, the gazette related to the rules of conduct of the election is yet to be published nor has the State Election Commission received any proposal from the side of the Govt in connection with conducting the election.
According to information received by the press, although the Government of Manipur is planning to conduct the long delayed election to the Autonomous District Councils of the hill districts, the gazette of the conduct rules is under the process of publication.
After publication of the gazette, 15 days time would be given for taking the opinions of the people for necessary rectification.
Only after that the final publication would be made.
However, when the publication of the gazette, which is under process, would be completed, could not be said, the source said, adding that the so far State Government is also yet to send its proposal to the State Election Commissioner for conducting the election.
On the other hand, the Commissioner has started its own exercise for the conduct of the election.
Along with maintaining that the SDOs concerned would be the ROs of the election to he District Councils, the Commission has also notified to the district administrations for submitting a report on the number of polling stations that would be required to be set up for the election.
