Training programme for Haj pilgrims held

Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today inaugurated a three-day training programme for this year's Haj pilgrims from the state.
Md Amin Shah, Parliamentary Secretary, MOBC, who is also the chairperson of Manipur State Haj Committee, Md Fazur Rahim, chairperson, WAKF Board Manipur and Alhaj Abdul Halim, chairperson, Manipur State Minority Commission were also present at the inaugural ceremony of the training programme held at Muslim Girls' Hostel, Minuthong Hatta here.
300 people from the state will undertake the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, informed Manipur State Haj Committee chairperson Amin Shah.
Saying that the training programme for Haj pilgrims was very important before making pilgrimage to Mecca for Haj, chief minister Ibobi said pilgrims from the state would not need to halt one night in Guwahati as done now once the international flights were available at Imphal International Airport.
Ibobi assured that his Government is considering building a home for Haj pilgrims in Imphal so that they can stay there together before leaving for Saudi Arabia.
