Ukhrul DC allays CrPC 144 fears

Saying that he is closely monitoring the situation after clamping 144 CrPC in Ukhrul town, Ukhrul DC Modak Hrishikesh Arvind has appealed to Ukhrul denizens to maintain peace and tranquility.
He said that people need not get panicky with the deployment of additional security forces and clamping of 144 CrPC in Ukhrul town.
The Government's move was to ensure peace and safety for the people of the town in the aftermath of ADC Member Ngalangzar Malue's assasination.
Saying that no report of confrontation or harassment has been received so far although enforcement of CrPC 144 has completed 45 days, Modak Hrishikesh Arvind lauded Ukhrul public for maintaining calm.
The DC said that he along with his sub-ordinate officers have been constantly directing the security personnel not to create unnecessary tension or provoke violence but to win the confidence of the people reminding them that they came there for the safety of the people.
Although, gathering of crowd, staging public rally and mass political campaigns are prohibited, there is no restriction in religious ceremonies and inter-village meetings.
Meanwhile, the two youths, who were in inebriated condition and detained by Ukhrul police on August 24, are still in the police custody.
It is said that police had registered a case against them.
The district administration had urged public not to spread rumour and create confusion.
