Imphal, August 25 2009:
A one-day dialogue on basic human rights violation and deployment of additional forces (IRB and police commandos) in hill areas was held today at Kanggui Christian College, Kangpokpi.
The event was organised by the Citizens Concern Committee, Senapati District.
The meeting strongly opposed the deployment of IRB personnel and police commandos in hill areas.
The meeting also demanded the end of violence against women while also demanding seat reservation for women in the district council.
The meeting decided to forward the resolutions adopted today to the AICC leader Sonia Gandhi.
The event was attended by various students' leaders, leaders of tribal apex bodies, and women activists.
