Imphal, April 25:
Fitting homage was paid to Major Chongtha Miya who fought bravely against the British forces in the Anglo-Manipuri war of 1891, conveyed a press release issued by the Major Chongtha Miya Memorial Committee.
A large number of people offered floral tributes and paid obeisance to the bust of Major Chongtha Miya erected at Khongjom battle field and to other unknown Manipuri soldiers martyred in Khongjom War.
The people also offered tarpan to the patriotic soldiers at Khongjom river.
The observance was organised by the Major Chongtha Miya Memorial Committee Imphal in collaboration with Tengol Lampak Protection Committee.
