The second part of the first session of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly will be convened for 20 days commencing from May 3, but no Bill would be introduced from the side of the Government during the session.
The decision to hold the Assembly session from May 3 to 22 was arrived at during a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the Assembly held at the office chamber of the Speaker this afternoon.
The meeting presided over by Speaker Dr Sapam Budhichandra also decided on the number of days for the session.
In all there would be 16 sitting days and with exception to May 12 which is a second Saturday, there would be session on all the Saturdays.
Earlier there use to be no session on Saturdays.
According to information received by the press, the proposals to have more numbers of days for the session were been put up from the side of the Opposition members.
However the Business Advisory Committee decided on having only 20 days in view of the joint meeting of the presiding officers and the secretaries scheduled on May 25 at Kerala.
Subsequently, as the number of days for the session is limited and there would be demand discussion, the State Government would not be introducing any Bill from its side this time.
On the first day of the session on May 3, the Governor will address the House and the discussion on the Governor's address would be done the following day.
On May 5, general discussion on Budget Estimate 2007-08 would be felicitated.
From May 7 to 18, there would be Discussion for Grants, 2007-08 for 48 departments and ensuring its passing.
On every Fridays, there would be business on private resolutions.
On May 19, discussion for passing of the Manipur Appropriation (No.III) Bill, 2007 would be taken up along with tabling the Supplementary Discussion for Grants, 2007-08 for discussion.
There would also be discussion on Manipur Appropriation (no.IV) Bill, 2007 and ensure its passing on the last day of the session.
