Imphal, November 12 2008:
Contending that denial of due power and function to the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Manipur by the State Govt is violation of the provisions guaranteed in the Constitution of the country, the Joint Action Committee of the All Manipur Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayat Councillors has announced its decision of filing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the court.
Announcing this during a press conference at the auditorium of the Oinam Ibohal Polytechnic located at Keishampat here today, the JAC has also warned of launching various intense agitations if the State Government does not give a positive response on the demand within December month this year.
