Inspired by the need to form a common platform where different associations could come together under one banner, the employees of PWD have today unanimously agreed and formed a new association christened, "Manipur PWD Employees and Workers Association".
The new association with the motto, "Work together, move together," was given birth in a general body meeting of Public Work Department,
Manipur held here at the department's conference hall, Khoyathong today.
Giving the key note address, convenor, JAC PWD, Prama Mangangcha said, "the meeting was convened especially to implement the orders for conversion of Muster Roll and casual workers to work charge establishment which have been delayed by the Govt".
An executive council of the association was also formed with RK Chandra Bal as its president.
The meeting elected K Apung as working president, T Lokendro as general secretary, S Chandro and Ph Prema as joint secretaries, Md Khalique as publicity secretary and M Indrajit and A Gourakrishna Sharma as adviser and legal adviser respectively.
M Angouba Sharma and A Gourakrishna Sharma grace the occasion as the president and Chief Guest respectively.
Prior to this meeting there were five different associations PWD Manipur.
