After successful implementation of the first phase of the Bharat Nirman along with taking up works on improvement of the roads and bridges in the State, the proposal for taking up similar works under the second phase of the programme would be submitted very soon, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Md Alauddin Khan has informed.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at his office chamber at New Secretariat this morning, the Minister said that a sum of Rs 350 crores had been sanctioned for the first phase of the programme for taking up developmental works of roads and bridges in the State.
The project proposal for the second phase of the work is to be submitted as there is the need for successful completion of the works that are already underway.
In this regard, a joint meeting of the State Level Committee has been convened tomorrow and it would be presided over by Chief Secretary of the State Jarnail Singh, the Minister disclosed.
Taking advantage of the press conference, the Minister said that the allegation levelled against him by the secretary of Mayang Imphal Block Congress Committee through local dailies on December 4 that he (the Minister) has been trying to instigate communal feeling among the people is unfortunate.
The Minister clarified that he had not spoken anything which was communal in character in his speech as guest of honour of the 67th foundation day of Bengoon Madrassa Majher Uloom at Mayang Imphal on November 25.
