The 13th death anniversary of former Minister Moirangthem Ibotombi was observed today at Ibotombi Memorial Complex, Heirok.
Ibotombi who held different ministerial portfolios was assassinated by some armed persons at his Heirok residence on Dec 7, 1994.The Ibotombi Memorial Trust has been looking into the possible reasons behind the assassination an trying to figure out the assassins, said some speakers who addressed the gathering.
They also decried the failure of the group/individuals concerned to clarify on the assassination even today.
They also observed that internecine killings will bring nothing positive but devastation.
Speaking at his father's death anniversary observance, MLA Moirangthem Oken who arrived from Delhi today appealed to all to cease all killings and animosity among the different ethnic groups of Manipur in order to bring about a peaceful and prosperous society in the State.
Saying that he has been camping at Delhi because of the prevailing political crisis in the State, Oken expressed gratitude to the Memorial Trust and to the people for successfully organising the anniversary in his absence.
The observance was also attended by MPCC officials, ex-MLA Francis Ngajokpa, L Radhakishore and MLA I Ibohalbi.
