After the success of sweeping out tattered and soiled currency notes of Re 1 and Rs 2 from circulation with adequate supply of coins, the problem of shortage of currency notes of Rs 10 and Rs 5 denominations, which have become an indispensable item in any religious and social function of Manipuri society would soon become a thing of the past.
Hanumath Rao, Deputy General Manager of State Bank of India (Eastern Region) has given the assurance to supply adequate quantity of currency notes of Rs 10 and Rs 5 denomination to solve the problem, Imphal Bazar Communities Board convenor Amrik Singh Pahwa informed The Sangai Express today.
Taking into consideration the importance and requirement of Indian currency notes of Rs 10 and 5 denominations in any religious and social ceremonies of Manipuri society, Pahwa approached Hanumath to supply adequate new notes to the people of the State.
Pahwa had an audience with Hanumath, who was in the capital city in connection with the plan for opening an SBI branch at Thoubal.
During the course of the meeting, Pahwa apprised the visiting official with the problem being faced by the people in procuring currency notes of Rs 10 and Rs 5 denominations which are very much required while performing any religious and social ceremonies.
In cognisance of the importance of the currency notes, Hanumath gave his assurance of doing the needful.
