Dr Arun of Ortho dept is the staff advisor.
Students and teachers of the RIMS are happy over the formation of the RIMSSU.
Several teachers and students said that now there will be a realistic infraction between the teachers and the students.
In the past the students could not participate in official functions of RIMS simply because the students' association had been dissolved.
They said that under the dynamic captaincy of Dr Lallukham Fimate, the new Director, the gap between the students and the authority had been bridged.
At his personal initiative an understanding had been reacts with the result that the RIMSSU has come into being.
Tsering Tenjor is happy with the new responsibility given to him.
He said that he will do his best to accomplish the task entrusted to him.
On being asked about the immediate tasks he would like to perform or bring to the notice of the RIMS authority he said that he will discuss with his fellow students for necessary actions.
Teachers and students said that full credit goes to Dr Fimate who has been associated with various social activities of many groups.
He was the organizer of the philanthropic group, the Hmar Youth Association, Imphal which is in fact a branch of the young Mizo Association, Mizoram.
In Mizoram, this organization has a great say in all political and social activities.
He had been the former president and advisor of the Hmar Students' Association, Manipur.
Since he had been the warden of the RIMS hostel for 12 years he is well versed with demands, aspirations and inclinations of the medical students.
He was also the founder president of the Medico Legal Society of Manipur.
Even High Court Judges are life members of this society.
And he is the first and only expert from eastern India to become the President of the Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine from 2000 to 2002.Even doctors from West Bengal have not got this coveted post.
Teachers and students are confident that Dr Fimate who is well read and well traveled is in the best position to solve all knotty problems in an amicable and peaceful manner.
It is no mean achievement to bridge the gap between the RIMS authority and the students.
