The total amount of money needed to be recovered from the loanees by MANITRON authorities is estimated to be about Rs 60 lakhs, disclosed a reliable source.
Sources further informed that out of the total amount of Rs 60 lakhs needed to be recovered, Rs 30 lakhs are for the installments given to the loanees for TV sets while the other Rs 30 Lakhs is for the electronic items sold to the Govt depts as Trading Sales.
Informing that there are presently about 200 TV sets lying idle at the MANI-TRON store unable to meet the stiff competition from other companies which have slashed down the prices of their respective TV set, sources said that mismanagement and corruption was the main factor for the ruin of MANITRON and its inability to join the electronic revolution.
It also stated that except for printing Election photo identity cards among some other minor works all production activities at MANITRON have come to a standstill.
Meanwhile, salaries of the 57 employees presently working at MANITRON have not been paid for the last eight months.
29 MANITRON employees had taken voluntary retirement from their respective post leaving only 57 employees.
It may be noted here that Chief Minister O Ibobi had recently appointed Bijoy Koijam Ex Minister Family Welfare as the chairman of MANITRON following the axing of the Minister during the recent down sizing of the State Council of Ministers.
