Reacting to the allegation/charges of discrepancies in issuance and supply of bitumen, State Public Works Department has clarified that out of the total quantity of 3602.85 MT of bitumen for which supply orders were placed during 2003-04, the Department has received only 3502.2065 MT so far.
In a press clarification, Chief Engineer of the Department O Digendra Singh stated IOC Ltd had to supply 3112.85 MT of bitumen with another consignment of 490 MT by Hindustan Petroleum Pvt Ltd.
However, the Department had received only 3502.2065 MT (2531.455 MT from IOC and 482.002 MT from HP) thereby leaving a balance of 100.6435 MT, which is yet to be received, he said.
He asserted that the details of receipt and issue to various Divisions against the Indent placed by the respective Divisions are maintained properly by in the Stores Division of the Department.
The quantity of bitumen issued so far is 3499 MT and thus the stock available at present is three MT only, he informed.
Informing that the quantities of bitumen for which supply orders had been placed during 2003-04 are for Imphal (to be delivered by the suppliers at Stores Divisions of the Department), Digendra said the question of transporter does not arise in this case.
There is no cases of selling of bitumen outside or inside the State out of the quantity received by the Department, he further asserted, while rubbishing the news reports as false and baseless.
Nor the State Government had ever instructed to investigate into the matter, he added.
Digendra also refuted the allegation of PWD having procured bitumen separately for specific Divisions.
