Stepping up counter insurgency operation, Imphal East District Police have apprehended three underground activists from different parts of the twin district capital city yesterday.
One of the arrested underground activist belongs to the NSCN (I-M) and the other two to the proscribed PLA outfit.
NSCN (I-M) activist identified as Sangnaotrang Keishing alias Robel Keishing (26) of Irong Makha in Ukhrul district was arrested from near Sanjenthong at about 9.30pm yesterday.
Police have recovered two photographs and seized the motor bike (LML-Adreno) bearing registration number MN1-3397 he was riding at the time of arrest.
The motor cycle is said to be registered in the name of one Gedim Keishing of Zomi Villa, Stadium Road.
Around the same time yesterday, another team of Imphal East District Police apprehended two PLA activists from Uripok Bachaspati Leikai.
They have been identified as Khwairakpam Nonilkumar alias Nalin (30) of Ningthoukhong Bazaar and Wangkheimayum Santosh (25) of Uripok Sinam Leikai.
Police have also seized a motor cycle (Pulsar) from them.
AR hand over suspects: Six UG suspects who were arrested by personnel of 17 Assam rifles during combing operations at Kshetri Leikai, Boroimakhong, Pebiya Pandit Leikai and Chanam Pukri Mapal yesterday were handed over to police today.
