Coming out strongly against the SPF Government over the text book fiasco, All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has accused the Government of shielding SCERT Minister and SCERT Director and said that such action would only invite the wrath of the people.
In a statement, information and publicity secretary of the students' body Khamba Laishram lamented that inspite of various round of talks and memorandum submitted, the Government is maintaining a stoic silence over the demand for resignation of SCERT Minister Z Mangaibou and SCERT Director Devala Devi.
AMSU is demanding their resignation holding them responsible for the text book impasse Even without any pressure from the side of AMSU, the Government should taken up steps for removal of the SCERT Minister and the Director as a responsible Government and the Minister and the Director concerned should have voluntarily stepped down from their respective posts instead of clinging to them shamelessly, he said, threatening of taking up other democratic forms of agitation to intensify the ongoing stir.
An ultimatum for the fulfilling the demands of AMSU would be submitted soon, he added.
Meanwhile, responding to the call of AMSU, around 2000 students from various schools in Thoubal district today staged sit-in-protest at different places of proper Thoubal denouncing undue interference in pursuit of their academic careers.
The sit-in-protest was held in response to the call for quality education spearheading by All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU).
AMSU branch warns: Reacting strongly against the erratic power supply in Kongba area just ahead of the forth-coming class X and XII board exams, All Manipur Students Union Kongba branch has appealed to authorities concerned to look into the matter and held redress the woes in the interest of the students.
