Imphal, May 30:
'Baba used to buy bread for me every morning.
But after he'd gone, I don't there is no one to buy be bread.
I want to see my Baba again.
Baba, come back home....'
This was the heart-rending cry of the 7-year old daughter of Salimuddin, who never returned after having set out from home for Guwahati on January 21 this year.
Salimuddin (30), s/o Md Safiullah of Yairipok Changamdabi was a Tata truck driver who used to transport chicken feeds from Guwahati to Imphal.
He left for Guwahati on January 21 this year on his usual errand driving the Tata truck no.MN-01-5781 and taking along with him 13-year old Arif Shah, son of one of his elder brothers staying in the neighbourhood in the hope showing him places.
Though they started their return journey from Guwahati on January 24, Salimuddin and Arif never reached home and their whereabouts not known till date.
It is believed that they have been abducted along with the Tata truck they were travelling along the National Highway 39 from Dimapur area.
Mumtaz Begum (35) wife of Salimuddin described her husband as a caring family man.
'I don't think he had ever offended any body in his life.
I don't know why he had been abducted and his whereabouts not revealed till today', Mumtaz said.
Of frail nature Mumtaz wailed out loudly unable to control her emotion over the loss of her husband, saying 'I don't know I'm supposed to look after my children without the support of my husband'.
Seeing the tears rolling down from her mother's eyes, 7year old sensitive girl started crying fitfully clinging to her mother and in between sobs calling out for her Baba.
Abdullah, who went to Dimapur and stayed there for two months looking for the missing persons said the attitude of the State Govt on Salimuddin case was really unfortunate and added that the State Govt should have exerted pressure on its Nagaland counterpart.
Abdullah came to know that Salimuddin had made the entry on the check post at the first gate of Dimapur.
So, he said, it is very likely that Salimuddin had been picked up between the first gate and the Purana Bazar.
Abdullah lodged an FIR with the Dimapur East Police Station on January 31 in connection with the case of Salimuddin and even sought the help of NSCN (I-M) cadres in tracing the missing man and the child.
The truck Salimuddin had driven was recovered on February 10 from near New land, some one and half kilometres from NH 39.The number plate and the body cover had been removed with tale tell signs that it was being used for transporting timbers/woods.
The Tata Truck driven by Salimuddin belonged to one Ramachoron Huidrom of Khagempalli Pankha.
The family members of Salimuddin informed that they have not received any sort of assistance from the truck owner.
