A retired MCS officer was arrested by the sleuths of Vigilance Department yesterday in connection with the case of misusing a sum of Rs 35 lakhs sanctioned during 1999-2000 for the purpose of computerising theland records in 27 SDC/SDO offices under the Directorate of Settlement and Land Records.
According to a reliable source, retired Deputy Settlement Officer A Sukumar allegedly submitted the bills without procuring the required materials for the computerisation of the land records.
He was later produced in the law Court and granted bail on medical ground.
The FIR registered against him is under 4(10) 04 VPs, U/s 406/420/468/471/120 (b) IPC 13(1) (c), PC Act.
AE Joykumar and SO who surrendered to the Vigilance on May 11 are presently out on anticipatory bail.
