Imphal, May 30:
Minister of Tribal Development and Hills Phungzathang Tonsing has stated that the Government will soon take a decision to remove all the 'unapproved' 144 adhoc teachers working under Chandel Autonomous District Council.
In his response to a question raised by MLA BD Behring during the discussion on matter of public interest on the last day of the Manipur Legislative Assembly session yesterday, the Tribal Development and Hills Minister said the Government would not listen to their complains any more and will soon take a decision on removing them from their posts.
Taking up the case of the 144 adhoc teachers, Behring contended that they were appointed in 1981 and the High Court issued an order on June 11, 2004 declaring them as genuine teachers.
Behring charged the Government with neglecting the problem of the adhoc teachers and not being able to conduct the DPC for recruitment of fresh teachers under the District Council.
The proposed DPC has been postponed three times, he pointed out, adding that the Government should either make an arrangement to recruit fresh teachers or regularise the adhoc teachers at the earliest possible.
In his reply, Phungzathang said that the Government has investigated the case of the 144 unapproved primary teachers and there is no supporting evidence of their appointment.
Moreover, the adhoc teachers could not furnish the original copy of the Court order which they claimed to have been issued to the Government declaring them as genuine teachers, the Minister added.
The DPC for recruitment of fresh teachers has been postponed three times as these unapproved teachers raised objection to it, apart from the demand made by some section of the people for appointing the teachers from some particular communities only, the Minister pointed out.
The whole process of recruiting fresh teachers would be cancelled if the unapproved teachers continue to create problem and they would be removed from their posts, the Minister informed the House.
