Lamka, October 28:
A rare Congress workers conference for the interior Henglep constituency was today held at Gothol village, about 30 kms from here with the state Congress president Gaikhangam attending the meeting as chief guest.
N Biren Singh MLA, Dr Chaltonlien Amo MLA and T Manga Vaiphei the constituency MLA grace the meeting that was attended by atleast 25 village chiefs.
Speaking on the occasion chief of Kirentak narrate his harrowing tale during the last election wherein he was allegedly denied to cast his own vote.
Denying my right to vote implies to denying my right to live he said while requesting the guest to ensure that no such unfortunate incident occurred in the upcoming election.
Henglep, being one of the many hotbeds of armed groups in the state has constantly witness diktats from such groups during the time of exercising their franchise and the complex community set up only added to this odd.
More than ten community or tribes were settled in the constituency and almost each of these tribes has their own armed group.
The guest of the conference appeal to the people not to pilfer others vote, they also appeal to various armed groups in the region to bestow a free-hand in exercising their franchise.
However, the stresses of all the speakers were on the reliability of the party, its secular stance and advantages over the regional ones.
While N Biren Singh wonders the triumphant prospect of holding a regional party conference in such interior part of the country, the Congress despite being a national party has penetrate even to the most backward and interior part of the land thereby mandating the success of its conference anywhere in the country.
Party rooted only on the Imphal pains were doomed to fall short in every aspect and it is due to such petite outlook politician that the state has been reeling in such a misery, he adds.
Gaikhangam on the other hand said that the need of the hour for Manipur is nothing, but stability.
For this, he said Congress is the one and only reliable party in the entire state.
It is worth wondering whether the people pleads their alliance to the representative or the party as many of the speakers, including the village chiefs express their loyalty to the Congress party no matter whom the party nominates.
As one speaker after the other declares, I am a Congress faithful since my childhood and Ill still do the same.
