Imphal, December 10 2010:
Even as the 329 grade IV medical officers and 39 dental surgeons recommended by the Manipur Public Service Commission for appointment in Manipur Health Services have been given offer forms, the Government is facing a situation where it would be unable to effect appointment of the recommended candidates.
A source in the Medical Directorate informed that in addition to controversies generated by suspected presence of OBC candidates with incompatible family incomes among the candidates who faced DPC, the Medical Directorate has served a legal notice in connection with the regulation that those who had not completed internship must not be allowed to face the DPC.
Because of doling out OBC certificates freely by those in power to their acquaintances and relatives without checking compatibility of their family incomes, the Health Department which is facing acute shortage of medical officers has been victimised, conveyed the source.
In view of the acute shortage of medical officers, the department has completed all process of giving offer forms and appointment to the recommended candidates and depute them to their respective place of postings.
However, because of all the existing controversies, the recommended medical officers and dental surgeons may lose a golden opportunity, conveyed the official.
