Tamenglong also observed the Human Rights Day at Bethel Baptist Church Complex, jointly organised by Naga Peoples' Movement for Human Rights and Naga Women Union.
Ningtingpou Kamei, former president of Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN), members of Zeliangrong Baudi Tamenglong zone and state as well, Pastors and Reverences from different villages of the district district attended the function.
NPMHR secretary general Dr Jinah Sangkham, NPMHR South Zone convener Phamthing and Naga Women Union Aram president Pamei adorned podium of the function.
An interaction session participated by members of the civil societies was also held during the function.
Phamthing, in his speech, recalled that NPMHR was established on September 9, 1978 with the objective to ensure and safe guard the rights of the Naga people.
The body made a 11 declaration which include right to life, right to work, the right to live together as a people and the unification of all Naga inhabitant areas, the right to hold and communicate ones belief, the freedom of movement, assembly and association, free access to all places of learning.
"Maximum participation of the people in the making of decisions affecting their lives, freedom from socio-economic exploitation, political domination and military repression, right against anti- democratic practices and dismantling of institutions and social values which legitimize and perpetuate these within our society," he said.
Other includes right against the practices of arbitrary arrest, detention, torture, execution and the use of unconventional weapons and the right against the imposition of undesirable alien legal systems and socio- cultural concepts and way of life.
He urged all participants to focus the declaration and follow it.
He further expressed dissatisfied when Pastors and Reverences failed to talk about the Naga political issue.
Dr.Jinah Sangkham, Secretary General, NPMHR spoke on discrimination and empowerment of women rights.
